Butterflies on the chapel ruins of the Mount of Beatitudes
acrylic on canvas panel, 11" x 14" by American Artist Hilary J. England
This romantic fine artwork was painted on-site, in Israel, near the Sea of Galilee, at the holy site of the purported Mount of Beatitudes.
The day was sunny and beautiful, and because of the unusually abundant rain that had occurred, there were many wildflowers in bloom, and the Sea of Galilee was at the highest level in a decade, making the area sparkle! I was able to capture this painting of butterflies flitting around the ruins of a Roman period chapel -- at the foot of the Mount of Beatitudes, where our Lord Jesus spoke the beautiful beatitudes to the people sitting and listening. It was a very profound experience to be able to think about what had occurred here centuries and millennia ago.
The painting is signed front and back.
