Original and Print Artworks of Beauty and Serenity by American Artist Hilary J. England
About the Artist:
My name is Hilary J. England, and my mission as an Artist is to create artworks of beauty and serenity so that my collectors can enjoy a shared moment in a hectic world.
I am a full-time Contemporary Artist based in the USA. I have traveled all over the world, being inspired by the beauty of both the landscapes and the inhabitants, which allow me to create artworks to share with others, conveying that beauty. My primary genre is landscape art, although I also create portraits by commission.
Although in my primary studio, I work traditionally in oils, while I am traveling, I will also work in acrylic, watercolor, pastel, pencil/charcoal, and mixed media. I strive to capture the beauty of a scene in all of its forms, and I don't limit myself to a strict medium to do this.
And, while I appreciate all kinds of creative expression, the artwork that I strive to create is the classical and timeless -- the art that displays dedication to the craft, and a reverence for the natural and spiritual worlds.
I also enjoy designing and hand-forging jewelry, and writing -- mostly travel essays and related prose, and am a published author on the subject matter. I enjoy expressing my art through writing, but my first love is the visual arts.
With my passion for traveling and seeing other cultures and the wonderful landscapes of the world, I create realist works of art that convey my love of all things beautiful, loving, daring, inspiring, and spiritual. I look to create a moment of rest and reflection for my viewers and collectors, and to stir a pleasant memory in their heart that connects them to my art.
For 2019, I will be embarking on two special projects: Special Project Israel, and Special Project Africa! I will spend one month in Israel in April 2019, visiting the entire country with a focus on Jerusalem, and for November/December, I will visit 8 countries, starting in Nairobi, and finishing my tour in Johannesburg, investigating the beautiful landscapes and local cultures, to develop a series of 24 paintings. I hope you will support me in these efforts! More information will be regularly published on my Patreon Page:

Hilary J. England was born in Brooklyn, NY, and has studied extensively at the Art Students League of New York, as well as with Myron Barnstone, of the former Barnstone Studios, Coplay, Pennsylvania. She has exhibited at various galleries in New York, Europe, Japan, and her artwork is internationally collected. She currently resides and works in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, USA.
As a social realist painter, Hilary’s past series and body of work explore the nuances of contemporary youth and the spectrum of issues surrounding their growth and transformation into adulthood. The series, “Rural American Youth,” has garnered several awards, including the “People’s Choice Award” at the Parallax Art Fair, New York.
Hilary’s current series is entitled “Travelogue." This series is an ongoing series of still life artworks that represent her personal experiences through collected objects and representational metaphors. These juxtaposed objects combine to make a picture statement that creates a conversation connecting viewers with their own personal experiences and common emotions and perceived expectations outside the confines of our comfort zones.
Hilary is also an avid en plein air painter and maintains a blog, “Field’s End Art” of smaller paintings done on location of her travels, both locally and abroad. She also designs and hand forges jewelry, from the artist co-op she belongs to Wagon Works. Wagon Works promotes artist equality, and environmental sympathy by utilizing recycled and environmentally friendly objects to create high-quality artisan crafts and artworks for everyday living.
