Hilary J. England
Hilary J. England is a contemporary American Artist, and my mission as an artist is to create artworks of beauty and serenity so that my collectors can enjoy a shared moment in a hectic world.
I am a full-time Contemporary Artist based in the USA. I have traveled all over the world, being inspired by the beauty of both the landscapes and the inhabitants, which allow me to create artworks to share with others, conveying that beauty. My primary genre is landscape art, although I also create portraits by commission.
About my work:
Although in my primary studio, I work traditionally in oils, while I am traveling, I will also work in acrylic, watercolor, pastel, pencil/charcoal, and mixed media. I strive to capture the beauty of a scene in all of its forms, and I don't limit myself to a strict medium to do this.
And, while I appreciate all kinds of creative expression, the artwork that I strive to create is classical and timeless -- the art that displays dedication to the craft and a reverence for the natural and spiritual worlds.
I also enjoy designing and hand-forging jewelry, and writing -- mostly travel essays and related prose, and am a published author on the subject matter. I enjoy expressing my art through writing, but my first love is the visual arts.
With my passion for traveling and seeing other cultures and the wonderful landscapes of the world, I create realist works of art that convey my love of all things beautiful, loving, daring, inspiring, and spiritual. I look to create a moment of rest and reflection for my viewers and collectors and to stir a pleasant memory in their hearts that connect them to my art.
I invite you to come in and browse my online home, learn more about me and my work, and stop for a moment and embrace the slow pleasure of art and beauty. As a social realist painter, Hilary’s past series and body of work explore the nuances of contemporary youth and the spectrum of issues surrounding their growth and transformation into adulthood. The series, “Rural American Youth,” has garnered several awards, including the “People’s Choice Award” at the Parallax Art Fair, New York.
Hilary’s current series is entitled “Travelogue." This series is an ongoing series of still-life artworks that represent her personal experiences through collected objects and representational metaphors.
